Ladybird Bento
Hubby’s finally back from his business trip! So, the mood to make bentos is back too!
Today’s breakfast was freshly toasted from the oven, paratha hot dog roll. The ingredients are easy to get and of course these rolls are easy to make. For further information of how to do it, visit here. Hubby said the roll is nice as the top layer is crispy and he likes the sesame seeds. He has asked to put more sesame if I ever make it again next time.
I couldn’t find roti canai from Cold Storage, so I just got the paratha. This is why I called mine paratha hot dog rolls and not the roti canai hot dog rolls in Simply June’s blog
During hubby’s business trip, he ate with his customers everyday and the meals they had were almost only meat and rice! The veggies he got were some cucumber slices in some meals and the very little veggies in the hamburgers that he had!
Don’t people in Saudi Arabia eat veggies or fish? It’s a desert but I believe they import fish. I tested him, “So you must be happy that you got to enjoy meats (chickens, lambs, steaks) all the time?!” He said “No, I miss your bentos and I love veggies and fruits because I couldn’t go toilet!” He was constipated! Hahaha! So today he gets a more balanced diet.
I put some gravy from the mackerel fish underneath the rice
I try to include some cute things in the bento, the ladybirds. I didn’t trust my cutting skill so I used an egg cutter to slice the egg. However, it didn’t come out nicely. Look at the egg yolk
Maybe my egg was too small for the cutter. The egg was shared among us, Gigi, hubby and I.
I bought a canned mackerel in tomato sauce but decided to make a spicy one. So, I sauted some onion and added in some chilli paste to cook with the canned mackerel.
Roast chicken breast with pepper and salt
The prawns are steamed with some butter but I didn’t pack the melted butter in or it’ll be so messy. Instead, I dipped the broccolis in the melted butter so the broccolis will have the taste of butter and prawn. Hubby is not getting the boring steamed-only broccolis today. I wanted to add in more broccolis but there’s no more place.
Grapes, oranges, mini biscuits and cheese
Hubby doesn’t really want to drink milk, so I gave him a piece of cheese. Cheese is a good source of calcium. Besides, broccolis, seaweed, sesame, beans, orange juice, soy milk and etc are sources of calcium too. So, he gets his calcium intake a little from here and there.
The cheese was cut using a bear shaped cutter. However, i intended to make it look like a girl. It looks like a girl and not a bear right?
The girl is wearing a hair band with small flower. But, will a girl who has tied her hair into two buns still wear a hair band like this?
After packing everything into hubby’s bento, the rest are always mine. When I think the food is too much, I eat little rice. In this case, two little rice cubes.
I made a newborn baby with an egg slice. Does it look like one? It’s a newborn wrapped with the receiving blanket to keep him/her warm and calm.

Gal,
Do we start to think alike? Planning to do the ladybird with cherry tomato, but found out i don’t have enough nori. Gotta import more … XD
Lov the cheesy cute gal, especially their smiley face !
Hehe! I bet you haven’t realised something! You punched the nori from my multiple facial expression puncher but you forgot to open the lid to collect the nori to your container. HAHAHA!!!
No wonder i can’t find the BIG ROUND eyes !!! :’(
And this is why my fish is missing an eye ? kekeke …
Guess we were busy chit chatting that night ! XD
I realised that when I wanted to do my ladybirds
