A Requested Bento

Hubby had to work overtime last Friday and knowing that he wouldn’t be back at home until late at night, he kept asking me “Will you make bento and bring to factory for me tonight?”. I was reluctant to say “yes”. He looked disappointed and said “If can, please come to the factory. I miss you.” Wow, kinda touched to have heard that. I then asked “You will miss me meh?” “Miss lah!” This was how I finally decided to make a bento again. I have no idea why I’ve become so lazy nowadays. I still have a lot of new bento tools to play with but where has my bento mood gone to??? There’s certainly something else I’m more concerned with lately than bento-ing. Yes, there is! But what is it? Will share later on when I’ve the chance. Let’s continue with the bentos I’ve made first and then some other things I’ve left out for so long which I wanna blog about too.

Since this is a bento requested by my big kid, I named it A Requested Bento. I’ve limited time to prepare it and I had to leave from home at 5pm to the factory to avoid the traffic jams on road later when kids finish school and others finish works. It took me 45mins to reach.

I simply made the rice into round shapes and the top one are decorated with black sesame seeds. There are more than 10 rice balls in the container. In the same container, there are pan fried pork marinated with soy sauce, sesame oil, pepper and shao xin jiu.  For veggies, I stir fried bok choy with mushrooms and carrots. To add colour, I packed in two cherry tomatoes. There’s also a bowl of bitter gourd soup.

And this was my bento which I brought to eat together with my big kid.

After dinner, we shared the fruits :) And I spent my time reading newspaper and surfing online in his office while waiting for him to finish work. Hubby said he feels so different and so excited every time I go to see him at work and I should go more often. “Ok, Ok. I will” (whispered in my heart)
